Dr Tim Mercer



BMedSci (Hons), BMBS (Hons), MRCGP, DOccMed,

General Practitioner, Wirral, UK.

He obtained a Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Sciences with a dissertation in Medical Education whilst completing his Bachelors of Medicine and Bachelors of Surgery degree at the University of Nottingham. He completed his Foundation Training at a variety of hospitals in the North West of England before moving onto Vocational Training for General Practice and obtaining his Membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners.

Dr Mercer became a HENW Fellow, studying "The Heartsink Feeling", publishing & presenting his work at the RCGPAC.  He has continued to work as a full time, clinical GP, and completed further post-graduate study at the University of Manchester, moving on to complete the Diploma in Occupational Medicine. He is involved in training the future generation of doctors.

He studied sleep therapy from teachers at the University of Oxford Nuffied unit for Neurosciences. He has been involved in prescribing volume reduction measures for sleeping tablets with great success. Further to his local work, he has supported national and international companies with their sleep-related efforts in a consultancy role, and published articles in local, national and international newspapers. Dr Mercer's further specialist interests include pain, mental health, unexplained symptoms, and tailored chronic disease management.
